Love, Not Hate

I'm  sure you've heard and seen it on the news about the terrible events that have taken place in Charlottesville, Virginia this past weekend. It's rather hard to imagine. We've heard of bad things happening  over the United States, but when something like this happens close by, it brings into a whole new perspective. Myself, I live in Virginia about two to three hours from Charlottesville.
Growing up in Elementry School, my class took a field trip to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home. It's beautiful country there, and a couple years ago my mother was diagnosed with Cancer and  refered to the UVA Medical Center right outside of the University of Virginia Campus; a couple miles from where war broke loose.
The whole town in general is caring and shows love beyond compare. We shouldn't let a stautue come in our way and turn our love away for fellow man. I know there has been a huge debate about the confederate statutes all accross the US in the past few months. If you remove these history landmarks, how will children growing up in this generation be able to relate to what they're reading in their history books, as well as on the Internet?
Multiple people was taken to the UVA Medical Center and a couple have died from the mayhem. I can't imagine what the families are going through having to put their sons or daughters to rest. Prayer vigils have been and will be coordinated in the upcoming days to weeks. Parents of the victims  speaking at these events, having to re-live the fact that their loved one is not coming home tonight. Still through all the pain, the families will have to find a way to love and forgive. This time next year, if the world is still standing, those bad memories will ring out in their minds. They'll remember  like it just happened, and will never erase it from their hearts and minds.
If you visit the state of Virginia you'll see our motto is Virginia Is For LOVERS. We even have the letters LOVE at every rest area along the interstates. We should use that to remind us to love our fellow man. Get rid of the bitterness and love one another again.
My prayers are with the familes and everyone that was involved. The only thing we can do in the upcoming weeks and months is pray for healing for Charlottesville and the families.
