California Wildfires

Image
I know by now you've saw the wildfires in California all over the news media and maybe even your social media feeds. My heart breaks for the victims that have lost everything they own but the clothes on their backs. Here's a map recently released that shows the affected areas. The forecasters say the winds are suppose to increase this weekend, making it very difficult for the fire departments. The air quality is getting worse too. This is a statement from the Los Angles Times: Health officials said Friday that air quality in Santa Barbara and Goleta has been unhealthy for three days. Santa Barbara County health officials are distributing special masks and recommending that people relocate for at least a few hours a day to somewhere with cleaner air to give their lungs a break. Please be in prayer for these people. I can't imagine what they're going through. It's hard to go through something like this, but especially here at Christmas. If y

Thankful Hearts

Here we are at Thanksgiving Eve. I can't help but count my many blessings tonight. We are so blessed as a family and as a nation. Many times we forget and take for granted the roof over our heads, the clothes on our backs, and the food in our pantry. May be never grow unthankful as a nation and always count our blessings one by one. If you look at the hurricane victims in Florida and Texas and see within twelve hours everything they owned was crumbled this past summer. That could've possibly been us. They woke up that morning and never dreamed of their possessions being taken away right before their eyes. If you live in the mountains like I do, we always think we've got protection from the storms, but sometimes we don't. There's been tornado's that have went through some mountain communities in the past. This Thanksgiving lets gather around the table with our families and really be thankful for each other. Love not hate; we'd be a better nation if

Pray for Texas

This morning I watched a few minutes of CBS This Morning. It breaks my heart seeing what Texas and surrounding areas are going through with Hurricane Harvey. I can't imagine what each person is having to deal with. Some relocated to shelters, don't even know where their other family members are, and if they even have some resemblance of a house left.   My heart goes out to everyone involved in this horrific disaster. One of the news anchors said they were describing the city of Houston as a swamp this morning. They say that Houston is the 4th largest city in the US. It's hard to believe looking out in a big city and everywhere you look is water and more water. This could happen to us in a heartbeat. We need to be thankful we're not wading around in feet and feet of water, and everything we own, gone, but the clothes we have on our backs. I'm thankful for our men and woman who serve our country for risking their lives to save just one person from the raging wa

Love, Not Hate

I'm  sure you've heard and seen it on the news about the terrible events that have taken place in Charlottesville, Virginia this past weekend. It's rather hard to imagine. We've heard of bad things happening  over the United States, but when something like this happens close by, it brings into a whole new perspective. Myself, I live in Virginia about two to three hours from Charlottesville.    Growing up in Elementry School, my class took a field trip to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home. It's beautiful country there, and a couple years ago my mother was diagnosed with Cancer and  refered to the UVA Medical Center right outside of the University of Virginia Campus; a couple miles from where war broke loose.    The whole town in general is caring and shows love beyond compare. We shouldn't let a stautue come in our way and turn our love away for fellow man. I know there has been a huge debate about the confederate statutes all accross the US in the

Chapter   1 “HONEY, IS TIMOTHY   ready for school?” Judy Anderson asked as she made a peanut butter sandwich.         “Yes, dear. His homework and essay are in his book-bag,” replied William Anderson.         The Anderson’s lived in a quiet town of Clintwood, North Carolina. It was nestled about twenty miles outside of Asheville. They chose this area for its fantastic scenery, as well as the schools,  were top rated of the whole state.         “Son, have a great day at school. I hope you get an excellent grade. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.” Judy said as she walked Timothy to the bus stop.         Timothy turned and smiled, “I hope so too, Mom.” By that time the bus was just pulling around the corner. Timothy stepped o

Dr. Seuss is a classic, loved by many.

Who hasn't read a good Dr. Suess children's book? I know I have read many during my childhood. Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and so many more. His books had been loved by many children across the United States. Schools still celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and host different activities throughout that week. I remember one time in Elementry school my teacher fixing the class green eggs and ham and reading the story to us. What fond memories reading a Dr. Seuss classic.          How The Grich Stole Christmas made its appearance in 1957. It has been watched by millions and still appears today. It's one of my favorite movies to watch with my family during the Christmas season. It's not Christmas at my house till we watch it. The movie is full of meaning, and it takes a true author to tell a story like that. (Applause)           Dr. Seuss isn't actually a person's name. It's a pen name used by Author  Theodor Seuss Geisel. He started writing under that
