California, we stand with you!

While watching CBS This Morning, I couldn't help but feel for the state of California. They've been through a lot in the last couple weeks, with wildfires and now the horrible mudslides. I can't imagine what the locals are going through. If their home wasn't burnt-up in the fire, now it's covered with mud. 


This is a picture of U.S. 101 in and around Santa Barbara. It doesn't even look like a road, but more like the floor of a river. By the news reports, this took place about 4 AM the other morning, a time where many residents were in bed asleep. If you think about it, at that hour there isn't much you can do. Some people say it sounded like a train coming, and managed to escape their homes safely. Others weren't that lucky. 

The death toll is standing at 17 this morning, and dozens missing. Let's pray for the first responders, police officers, and fire departments as they hurry to find these missing people. 


Imagine if your home looked like one big rock pile this morning. These pictures break my heart and your's too. 

Officials are saying it could take months to restore the water supply, due to the mud and rubble that's made its way into the creeks, rivers, and streams. 


This is a picture of another highway as residents evaluate. I can't imagine what's going through their minds. They're having to leave everything behind and seek other housing because their house is covered.

California, I know you're going through hard times right now, but rest assured we stand with you and are here to help!

Oh, how I love snow days!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful but we really have no place to go. So let it snow let is snow let it snow!  Do you remember as a child hoping you'd have a snow day so you could stay home from school? Us as adults wishing for snow days too so we can stay home from work. Isn't it nice to curl up by the ol' fireplace and watching the snow fly? This is definitely soup and chili weather, not to mention good reading weather. If you're like me, I always keep a stack of books on hand for weather like this.  I live in Virginia and this is a picture of how our roads look today. Ugh, don't they look horrible? My driveway is covered and our county officials are encouraging people to stay indoors and don't go out unless you have too. Luckily, I'm off today and don't have to go anywhere til the end of the week. A good cup of hot cocoa is on my agenda for this evening along with a big bowl of soup. Yum! Yum!  What
